Our Ground Improvement Division partners with engineers, developers, and contractors to transform sites with unsuitable soil conditions into buildable ground. By improving subsurface conditions, we enable the use of conventional shallow foundations and slabs-on-grade and eliminate the need for more expensive deep foundations. We offer a range of proven methods tailored to project-specific challenges, including:
GCCs are rigid, unreinforced concrete inclusions ideal for sites with deep, compressible soils and heavy structural loads. They are primarily installed using displacement methods, which produces little to no excess spoil. Learn more about GCCs.
RAPs are stiff, rammed aggregate columns that also densify surrounding soils. When enhanced with grout (GAPs), they offer increased stiffness through weak soils like soft clays or organics. Like GCCs, they are primarily installed using displacement methods, which produces little to no excess spoil. Learn more about RAPs.
RIC densifies near-surface granular soils up to about 10–15 feet deep using a high-energy hydraulic hammer mounted on a tracked excavator. The process improves settlement performance and bearing capacity across the building footprint. Learn more about RIC.
VPC is a deep ground improvement technique for densifying loose granular soils. Using a vibratory hammer and steel probe, this method increases soil density without water jetting or soil berms, keeping the site clean and cost-effective. Learn more about VPC.
