Congratulations to Kord Wissman, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE for being nominated as the new President of Geo-Institute. Wissmann brings more than 22 years of experience to the role, and has been an exceedingly valuable member of the GI team, holding various leadership roles.

In his new role at the ASCE Geo-Institute, Wissmann will be charged with overseeing the continued enhancement and support from industry, academia, government and non-governmental organizations for ASCE and the civil engineering profession.

“Kord brought to the GI Board a well-articulated vision that stressed the importance of enhancing the value of GI membership,” said former ASCE Geo-Institute president, William Camp, III, PE, D.GE. “His push for a member-centric focus has initiated needed improvements and I’m sure his year as President will be transformative for the GI. I thank him for his service and look forward to what he will accomplish.”

Wissmann is President and Chief Engineer at Geopier Foundation Company, and has held a series of roles with increased responsibility in company operations, business planning, engineering activities, design approach development, research/development, and executive leadership. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned his B.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. He attended the University of California, Berkley and received a M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
